June is Gaudi month and to celebrate such a wonderful occasion, we invite you to taste coca pastry and welcome in the summer equinox with a glass of champagne.

We invite all our members, friends and acquaintances to join hearts at midnight on Tuesday 24 June 2008, to create a wave of positive energy, a harmonious overture for Gaudi and his work.

Congratulations to everybody for whatever part they may play!

Typical Catalan coca pastry, the fruit one is the one I always end up making, is not like the ones to be found in bakeries and pastry shops. It is much better, or at least that is what my family and friends who have tasted it say.

  • 400gr flour
  • 200gr sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 sachet Royal yeast
  • Grated peel of 1 lemon
  • candied fruit
  • orange
  • melon
  • cherries
  • pine nuts
  • butter
  • liqueur to taste

Preparation of Coca-pastry:

Place the sugar and eggs in a bowl and set to work mixing with a fork; add the flour, yeast ... continue working the dough, there must be no lumps, and mix in the milk, oil, grated lemon peel and the liqueur; grease a tray with butter, pour in the mixture and place it in a preheated oven at 160 degrees; when it begins to gain color on the surface, then sprinkle over the sugar, fruit and pine nuts. Leave it until golden, taking care not to burn it.

A tip...

It also tastes wonderful if we take out a little flour and in its place include a little chopped almonds.
