"Ceramics in the work of Gaudí" is an exhibition organized by the Illustrious College of Master Builders and Technical Architects of Barcelona and the Center of Gaudinist Studies, and sponsored by the Roca company.

Barcelona.- On January 15, the first of the many exhibitions that will be held during 2002, declared the International Year of Gaudí by the Barcelona City Council, was inaugurated at the Illustrious College of Master Builders and Technical Architects of Barcelona (CAATB).

This is a monographic exhibition on ceramics in the work of Gaudí, in which one can see more than 50 original pieces from several of the architect's projects, ceded by private collectors and cultural organizations such as the Center of Gaudinist Studies, the Real Cátedra Gaudí and the Sagrada Familia.

At the press conference, Mr. Daniel Giralt-Miracle, commissioner of the International Year of Gaudí, spoke of the plastic intensity of ceramics in the work of Gaudí, and how the architect used it to create works that not only are architecture but can also be classified as "total art."

Annemike van de Pas, director of the CAATB department of culture, pointed out that the design of the sample was conceived to highlight the pieces and present them as if they were small jewels, since they certainly do have that value.

Later, Luis Gueilburt, director of the de Center of Gaudinist Studies and commissioner of this exhibition along with Toshiaki Tange and Benet Meca, discussed how Gaudí worked together with his collaborators to ensure that every little piece was fully integrated into the whole of the project, as in the case of ceramics.

Entrance to the exhibition is free. The exhibition will remain open until February 15. In addition, conferences have been organized for February 7 and 14, which will feature the participation of scholars of gaudinist works and other architects. Two guided visits to Park Güell and the Palau Güell, two sites where ceramics play a very important role, will also be held in February.
