GAUDI INFLUENCE IN TENESSEE

A partner of the U.S. sends us these photos of banks, recreating the Gaudi's Parc Guell, have made in their city.
Thank you for your collaboration Manuel Barja

I was driving through Tennessee and I stoped at a rest stop and was shocked to see a bench that was a copy of Gaudi designs, I posted the pictures at this link http://www.glowfoto.com/users2/mbarje/view.php?aid=57241

156 ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF GAUDI AND HIS 82 SINCE DEATH

JUNE, THE MONTH OF CELEBRATION

During the month of June there are two important facts. The anniversary of the birth of Gaudi on June 25, 1852, at 9:30 a.m. in the morning was born at the "Camp de Tarragona", some say in Reus, and there are others that says in Riudoms and other who says he was born in Reusdoms

Almost 75 years later, on June 10, 1926, died as a victim of a traffic accident caused by a tram line from the line 30 in crossing the streets Bailén and Gran Via. As was customary continued its journey towards the Church of Sant Felip Neri without realizing the danger that it lurks in the fateful crossing. Surely it would be concerned about the works of the Holy Family without noticing the arrival of the tram.

Are the days being numbered for The Sagrada Family due to the Tunnel of Death?

Barcelona, March 15 of 2007

The photograph shows Architect Joan Bassegoda who is responsible of the The Gaudí Chair, an organization thatsupports the group "Per un Bon traçat TGV," and Mr. Pedro Vallejo, President of the Association, along with other local component members who are all affected by the passage of the AVE, stand together to show their disapproval.

They are fighting together in hopes to gain a bigger response and stop the tunnel from being built. The Gaudí Chair is in charge of protecting Gaudi´s works, while ¨per un Bon traç at TGV¨ supports the people of the town who may lose their homes. The fear that their houses may suffer the same consequences of the vibrations from the high-speed train has caused them to join together to share their rejecting beliefs.

World Heritage List !!!

Four properties built by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) in or near Barcelona are added to his Parque Güell, Palacio Güell and Casa Mila in Barcelona, inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1984. They testify to Gaudí’s exceptional creative contribution to the development of architecture and building technology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The four buildings added to the List are: Casa Vicens (1883-85); Gaudí’s work on the Nativity façade and Crypt of the Sagrada Familia cathedral (1884-1926); Casa Batlló(1904-06); Crypt in Colonia Güell (1898-1905).
